Summer Reading Central

Summer Reading is Here!

Join together to Build a Better World through stories, creativity, and community.

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Reading Public Library’s annual summer reading programs from June 16—August 12, 2017.

KIDS (Birth to Grade 6)

Children ages birth through grade 6 are invited to participate in summer reading.  Reading alone, being read to, or listening to audiobooks all count! Earn great prizes while you spend time with books, and join us for fun participatory events including yoga, acting, cooking, drawing, and building.

TEENS (Grades 6 to 12)

We’ve lined up some awesome prizes and special events just for teens entering grades 6 to 12. This year, we’ve made it super easy to participate. Just check out items at the library or complete a review to earn a scratch ticket. Plus drop in for teen movies, hands-on Teennovation classes, book discussions, Dungeons & Dragons, and more!

Grown-ups, if you will be reading this summer anyway, why not join our adult self-service reading club? Starting June 16, you can participate online or in person at the library and keep an eye out for some fun, free adult programs that will help you “Build a Better World” this summer.

Build a Better World is sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
