Netguides, students trained at the library to provide patrons with one-on-one technology answers and personalized instruction on your schedule, are here to help you!
Basic computing: Includes understanding how to get around the computer interface, mouse tricks, understanding folders and files.
Basic Internet: Understand how a web browser and URLs (web addresses that start with http://), how to find stuff on the web, and the basics of getting around web sites.
Using the library catalog: Searching the catalog for books, movies, audiobooks, and music, finding them in the library, placing items on hold and renewing items online.
Online magazines, newspapers and research: Finding archived Boston Globe and other newspaper/magazine articles for free from home or in the library.
E-mail: Learn more about using web-based email (Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, Verizon Webmail, Comcast Webmail, and more).
Microsoft Office applications: General basic training or answers to specific questions about using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
MP3 players and digital cameras: Hands-on training with MP3 players, the Listen Up! Reading eAudiobook program, and using your digital camera.
