Netguides

Apply to be a Netguide

Are you a high school student interested in the Internet and computer technology?  Would you like to use your skills to assist other community members?
The Reading Public Library welcomes you to fill out an application to become a volunteer Netguide.   Netguides assist in introductory Internet and technology classes and/or provide one-on-one technology training to patrons of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels.
This is a great way to get your required service hours for the National Honor Society or any other church or community group. In addition, the Netguide program looks great on your college and job applications!

How do you become a Netguide?  Fill out the Netguide Application and return it to the Reading Public Library Information Desk.  Application deadline: January 14, 2012

How can Netguides help you?

Don’t understand email? Not sure how to create tables in Microsoft Word? Want to learn how to use a mouse? Netguides, students trained at the library to provide patrons with one-on-one technology answers and personalized instruction on your schedule, are here to help you! Netguides:

  • - assist patrons and the instructor in computer classes,
  • - help librarians provide more tech help support to patrons during busy hours in the library, and
  • - instruct patrons in 1 hour one-on-one sessions, by appointment.
