Stitches

Stitches by David Small
Recommended for adults

We used to call them “comic books”, but they have come a long way since Archie and Veronica.  They are now called graphic novels and, in some cases, have evolved into a sophisticated storytelling medium.
If you would like to try one and are a fan of memoirs, I’d highly recommend Stitches by David Small.  This slim autobiography in graphic form conveys the the horrific childhood of this talented artist with more emotion and clarity than a 500 page book filled with words ever could.
