For Teachers

j0439450We know you have a lot on your plate. We want to help you! Everyone wins when the public library and teachers work together to serve the students of Reading.

Here’s how we can help:

  1. Teacher Cards
    • For teachers working in Reading at public or private schools
    • Applies to items that are for class assignments only
    • Special 8 week loan period on Reading Public Library books and materials (does not apply to materials from other libraries)
    • 1 week loan for DVDs and videos. Longer loan periods can be arranged, if necessary.
    • No fines for overdue items. School is responsible for paying for lost or damaged items.
    • Don’t forget to get a PIN. This code is necessary to access your account from home.
    • See our Teacher Loan Policy for more information.
  2. Services from school or home
    • Search our website to check our catalog, online databases, and magazine indexes
    • E-mail sites and articles to yourself or your students for future reference
    • Use our Homework Help for resources
    • Use our Books ‘n Stuff page for student reading recommendations
    • Working on your masters or professional development? Check out our Research page with links to databases for adults.
  3. Curriculum Support
    • Contact us if you need multiple copies of the same book.
    • Let us know about assignments and we can set aside useful resources for students and label them for “Library Use Only” so we won’t run out.
    • We can gather books, videos, DVDs and magazines that will support your lessons. Keep your check-out receipts and you will have a ready-made list/bibliography for future use.
  4. Delivery
    • Materials can be sent directly to your school via the school courier. No need to find time to stop by the library!
  5. Classroom Visits
    • We are happy to offer literacy support to your students. Example of this are booktalks and storytimes.
