Teen Advisors
WHO
If you are in grades 6-12 and are looking to make difference, become a Teen Advisor! This is a very flexible program that is designed to accommodate a busy teen schedule. Each Teen Advisor is expected to work a minimum of 10 hours through the school year (Sept – June).
WHAT
What does a Teen Advisor do? Almost anything! Projects can range from basic library help (such as moving books or shelf reading) to planning and running a programs.
Teens can:
decorate the Teen Spot;
prepare books and magazines for the book sale room or magazine give-away;
participate in a monthly “Shopping Session” (reviewing books and games for purchase);
suggest (plan, run) a cool event;
…. and more.
HOW
To become a Teen Advisor, contact our Teen Librarians. Once registered, you will be part of the Teen Advisor e-mail list and receive announcements about opportunities to earn hours. You can also use the e-mail list to suggest ideas for programs or projects you would like to work on.
Teen Advisor log their hours using an internet based program (password protected). Teen Advisor hours are considered volunteer or community service hours, and in some cases, such as when planning and running a program, can be counted towards leadership hours.
