The Fire Within by Chris D’Lacey was a very good book. It’s about a college student named David who is a tenant of a woman named Elizabeth Pennykettle and her eleven year old daughter, Lucy. Elizabeth is a potter and she makes clay dragons. David names his Gadzooks, who causes him to write a story for Lucy about squirrels living in their neighborhood. Along the way, David helps save the squirrels and learns some interesting things about the dragons and the Pennykettles. I loved this book because it had a good amount of humor in it and it was exciting enough to make me want to keep reading. I recommend this book for people who like fantasy.
