THE GLASS CAFÉ’ OR, THE STRIPPER AND THE STATE; HOW MY MOTHER STARTED A WAR WITH THE SYSTEM THAT MADE US KIND OF RICH AND A LITTLE BIT FAMOUS BY GARY PAULSEN

Tony Henson tells this true story that happened to him and is all his.  Twelve-year old Tony’s mom, Al (short for Alice), is an exotic dancer at the Kitty Kat Club and she is terrific, according to Tony.  He and his mother have been on their own for a long time and are very happy with their family arrangement.
That all changes when budding artist, Tony, decides to broaden his drawing experience and sketch the “girls” backstage at the club where his mother works.  When the drawings end up in an art show and draw the attention of Social Services, Tony’s world turns upside down.
A legal battle ensues and the media has a field day trying to discredit Al’s parenting.  She is not going down without a fight though!
