The final event of the Teen Joker’s Wild Summer is a two hour bonanza with magic, games, prizes and ICE CREAM!
The evening kicks off at 6:00 with an hour of card and magic tricks from Magician Matt McArthur. After our ‘Trick’ session, the library will ‘Treat’ teens to some Ice Cream Sundaes. Attendees are then invited visit to our Game Night Tables, each with it’s own fun and entertaining activity. Matt McArthur will also be strolling through the event performing additional tricks and illusion.
Finally, the evening ends with a Grand Raffle where everyone goes home with a prize!
This event is open to all students entering grades 6-12 and registration is recommended. This is a free program funded by the Friends of the Reading Public Library.

Holy Theme Day, Batman! If you just LOVE to HATE The Joker, then hang out at the library from 10-4:30 for a whole day of big screen time showing Batman v. Joker. Teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to watch both animated and live action adventures of our favorite DC hero.
The viewing will include selections from the animated series, a full length animated movie from the ‘Batman Beyond’ era, as well as the 2008 live action flick – all feature battles and adventures of the Caped Crusader and his evil nemesis – THE JOKER!

Read your summer reading titles on a Nook!
We have 3 Nook E-Readers all loaded up with a selection of 19 Reading Memorial High School summer reading titles. Any Reading resident 18 or older may check out a Nook for up to two weeks, after signing an E-Reader agreement. Come into the library, call 781-942-6703, or email to pick up or reserve an E-Reader!

Teens are invited to join us in making some cool and creative greeting cards. One option will be to make and embellish some adorable purse shaped cards – just perfect if someone you know has a birthday coming up or you just want to make something special for your BFF.
Not into greeting cards? Perhaps you’d like take some ordinary bookmarks and turn them into awesome bookmarks or an amazing box.
The possibilities are endless. Refreshments will be served.

What can you with all those incomplete decks of playing cards? Drop by our Teen Craft Night and we’ll show you some fabulous ways to recycle all your old playing cards. Make a tote bag or a mini-journal. If you’re the patient type, try your hand at making a cool box!

Interested in knowing about your future? Have you ever had your tarot card read? Teens and Tweens entering grades 6-12 are invited to have their Tarot Cards read and interpreted by a real Tarot Card Reader!

PLEASE NOTE: Our Tarot Reader will be available for 2 hours and will try to provide a reading for all who attend. Card games and other activities will be available while you wait for a personal reading.
Here are some photos from our July 5 “House of Cards Competition.” We learned that the type of cards used REALLY makes a difference on your success in building with playing cards AND that you really need a lot of perseverance and patience!
Don’t miss our “House of Cards Competition (with FREE Pizza Lunch)”. This free event requires registration and is open to any student entering grades 6-12. Come work individually or as team to build your own House of Cards. Compete for prizes in categories such as the “Tallest”, “Strongest”, “Coolest”. The library provides the cards and a pizza lunch – you provide the skill, steady hands and lots of patience!
