October 15-21 is National Friends of Libraries Week, an opportunity for the Reading Public Library to thank our Friends and encourage others to join their efforts. The Friends of the Reading Public Library do so much to help make our library a vibrant community hub. Did you know that the Friends provide approximately $40,000 annually to the Library to help pay for our programs? Programs like Exam Cram for Teens, Summer Reading for all ages, and LiveWires programs for adults. Funding from the Friends also pays for many of our museum passes which help you get into local attractions at discounted rates.
How do they do it? With entertaining fundraising events like their House Tour, Wine Tasting at Pamplemousse, and Little Black Dress presentation. The Friends also manage the Library’s popular book sale room. They always welcome new volunteers to help. If you love the library and love making new friends, join the Friends today!
