Reading History: A Factory Town?

Reading was once home to many factories, including one for paper boxes and hairbrushes, several for shoes and another for ties. Take a look at the old photographs from Reading’s industrial history. Do you recognize any of the buildings?  At least one is still standing.

These images are part of the Reading Public Library’s collection of historic photos. For more details about these images, in addition to other historical images from the Town of Reading, visit our online digital collections at the NOBLE Digital Heritage project.
