Looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Students in 6th through 12th grades are eligible to apply for our Book Mates Program! Parents of 1-4 graders interested in Book Mates should visit our Book Mates for Kids page.
What is Book Mates?
Book Mates is a reading buddy program pairing teens with 1st-4th grade children. The goal of the program is to give children the opportunity to practice the skill of reading with an attentive teen and have fun at the same time. Book Mates requires a commitment of volunteering 45 minutes each week at the library for the duration of the program. Weekly attendance is required for the duration of the program.
Currently, we offer Book Mates in the Fall and Spring of each school year. Each time a session is offered, we accept new applications. Check back here throughout the year to learn if we are currently accepting applications (see below).
How do I become a Book Mate?
- Fill out an online application below (only accepted during certain times of the year). Spaces are limited and submitting an application does not mean automatic acceptance. Applicants will be notified by phone or email of status. Note: Parent consent is required as part of the application process.
