No sign up or registration! If you're entering grades 6-12, there are two ways to earn scratch tickets:
Checkout an item(s) from Reading Public Library and earn a scratch ticket. One ticket per day only.
Complete this review form and return it to the library to earn a ticket. Each completed review earns one ticket.
All non-winning tickets qualify for the Grand Prize Raffles. Just fill out your contact info on the ticket to be entered. We'll draw winners at the end of the summer!
What kinds of prizes can I win?
There are tons of prizes you can win. Scratch off your ticket to reveal the prize! You might win small prizes such as assorted candy, magnetic bookmarks, or charger decals. Medium prizes such as cool erasers & pencil wraps, invisible pens, drumstick pencils, rock bouncy ball, or squishies. Or larger prizes such as magnetic slime, mini instruments, fandom coloring books, or portable chargers. At the end of the summer, we're giving away lots of Grand Prizes including numerous kits (Synth Kit, Ultimate Brainteaser Puzzle, Rock Painting Set), plus $10+ gift cards to some of your favorite stores & retailers (Richardson's, Target, Whitelam Books, etc.) and more! Visit the library to see the prize board with pictures of all the items you can win!
Where do I get a ticket?
Bring your checked out item(s) and receipt, or completed review form, to the Research & Reader Services Desk near the Teen Area to claim your ticket.
What if I'm away this summer?
You can still get tickets! Complete this review form for each book you read and bring it to the library by August 11 to redeem for a ticket. Reviews must be fifty words or more to qualify for a ticket. And the book you review must be read DURING the 2018 summer. Each completed review earns one ticket.
How old do I have to be?
To participate you must be entering grades 6-12 in the fall. Teens must check out items themselves and/or be present in the library to earn a scratch ticket.
Are there any limits to the challenge?
You must check items out at the Reading Public Library to get a ticket. Be sure to get a receipt and bring both the receipt and item(s) to the Research & Reader Services Desk immediately to redeem for a ticket.
You can only get one scratch ticket per day with checkout. If you want more chances, visit the library as often as you can and/or complete a review form for each book read.
Any item checked out counts toward a ticket, with the exception of e-books & e-audio. Tickets for e-books & e-audio can only be earned through completing a review form.
Turn in your losing ticket to be entered in the Grand Prize Raffles (one chance per ticket).

Read + Music Challenge
This summer we challenge you to consider music inspired by the books you read.
While reading this summer consider what song, artist, album, music video, instrument or type of music a book inspires. Does the whole book inspire something musical, or is there a particular character or maybe the setting that brings to mind a song? If the book had a theme song, what might it be? Then share your ideas at our Book Buffet Summer Challenge meetups!
